auf meinem Weg nach Deutschland- on my way to Germany

Mittlerweile bin ich weider in Berlin um hier die dreiwöchigen Semesterferien hier zu verbringen. Wie es momantan aussieht, werde ich tatsächlich wieder Ende Mai hierhin ziehen.
Auf meinem Weg zurück nach Deutschland machte ich wie üblich einen Zwischenstopp in London um zum einen meine Freunde dort zu besuchen und die Stadt ein bisschen mehr auszukunden. Hier nur ein paar Einblicken, was so auf den Bahnhöfen rumsteht.

Meanwhile I arrived in Berlin to stay for my 3 weeks semester break. As it looks momentarily I will actually move back here in the end of May.
On my way back to Germany I made a stop as usual in London to at the one hand visit my friends and on the ither hand to get to know London better. Here you have some insights of what stands on the train stations.

 

 

Kirchenleben- church life

Am zweiten Wochenende im März war ich bei einer Konferenz namens Worship Central- es war soooo genial.
Einige Größen der christlichen Szene, wie Tim Hughes, Martin Smith und Phil Wickham luden zu einem 2 tägigem Event in London ein.
Gemeinsam mit anderen 2000 von Gott begeisterten Leuten wurde uns am Freitag Abend ein geniales Mitsingkonzert geboten an dem wir diese Begeisterung zum Ausdruck bringen konnten. Am darauf folgendem Tag wurden Insights über die Musikarbeit in Gemeinden, Songwriting, praktische Hilfen an Instrumenten durch Workshops vermittelt.

On the 2nd weekend in March I went to conference called worship central, it was sooo amazing.
Some known people of the Christian szene as Tim Hughes, Martin Smith and Phil Wickham invited everybody to a 2 day event in London.
Together with other 2000 people who are passionate for God, we experienced an amazing sing along concert, where we could give this passion expression. On the following day we received insights of working as a music director in churchs, about songwriting and practical advice on instruments.

 

 


Am So war ich in der Brompton Holy Trinity church in London, in der der Alphakurs ins Leben gerufen wurde und Tim Hughes als Musikdirektor tätig ist. Eine sehr einladende Atmosphäre, wobei ausgerechnet der Tag ein Familiengottesdienst war und viel um den Muttertag ging- meine war nicht da...:(

On Sunday I went to the Brompton Holy Trinity Church in London, in which the Alpha course came into being and Tim Hughes works as the music director- a very welcoming church.

 

Hier seht ihr das Kirchengebäude in das ich in Plymouth gehe. Sie nennt sich Mutley Baptist church- insges. ca. 2- 300 Leute strömen am Sonntag verteilt über drei Gottesdienste in dieses Gebäude.
Ich bin dankbar über den Gottesdienst um 18:30- schön zum ausschlafen, immerhin an einem Tag in der Woche.

Here you can see the church to which I go in Plymouth. It is called Mutley Baptist church- all in all about 2-300 people attend 3 services spread throughout the day. I am thankful for the services at 6:30 pm- great to sleep in at least one day a week.

Eine Sache die ich in der Tat an Plymouth vermissen werde ist die Küste. Es ist so genial nur 15 min mit dem Fahrrad zu fahren und eine tolle Aussicht zu genießen. Versuche mind. einmal die Woche zur Hoe zu fahren, wie sie genant wird.

One thing I will definately miss in Plymouth is the the coast. It is so cool to just ride with the bike 15 min and then being able to enjoy a beautiful view- I try to go at least once a week to the hoe, as it is called.

Eines Tages nebelte es sehr, was sehr selten in Plymouth ist- eine tolle Gelegenheit um Fotos zu machen. Hier seht ihr mich mit meinem Rad auf dem nach Hause Weg vond er Uni. Da wir auf der Spitze eines Hügels wohnen ist das ein ganz schöner Sport- im Gegensatz zu den Engländer die wirklich überall hin laufen. Wenn man viele von ihnen fragt, ob sie Sport machen, sagen sie dass sie laufen- schon lustig.

One day it was quiet misty- a great time to take pictures. Here you can see me with my bike on my way home from the uni- in contrast to the English people who walk everywhere. When you ask many of them if they do any sports, they reply that they walk- somehow funny.
 
 
 
 

Geburtstage und Freunde- Birthday and friends

Mein Gastvater feierte seinen Geburtstag- so lieb, dass sie mich immer mit in ihre Familienfeiern mit einbeziehen.

My hostfather celebrated his birthday- so nice that they they always include me in their family festivities.
 


Ein weiterer Geburtstag- diesmal von einem Freund von mir. In der Student Union wurde zu Rockmusik das Tanzbein geschwungen, was für mich ungewohnt war, da ich mich sonst eher im Hip Hip Raum aufhalte. Da ist definitiv mehr Raum zum rumalbern, nicht der "coole" Dancemoove ist gefragt :)

Another birthday- this time of a friend of mine. We went dancing in the Rock room of the student union. The next day so many where sore because of the many singing with the songs :)

 

Hier seht ihr Maiju, eine finnische Frau, die mir echt eine sehr gute Freundin geworden ist. Leider ist sie mittlerweile schon wieder in Finnland.

Here you see Maiju, a finnish woman, who became a very good friend of mine. Too bad she is back in Finnland now.
 

Musik

Ich bin so glücklich, dass ich so viele tolle Musiker um mich herum habe. Hier seht ihr Luc, dessen Schlagzeugspiel ich aufnahm. Meine Aufgabe ist es 20 Minuten Kompositionen am Ende des Semesters, sprich Ende Mai einzureichen. Fast ne kleine Albumarbeit mit der ich mich da so viel beschäftige. Ich bin froh, dass ich das Studio der Uni nutzen darf und die Hilfe von Fachkräften.

I am very happy that I have so many good musicians around me. Here you can see Luc. I recorded him playing the drums. My task for my composition class is to record 20 min of my own compositions- almost a small album work with which I am dealing there. I am glad that I can use the studio of the uni and am able to ask the employer there for help.

 

Kurz vor den Osterferien wurde das Musical "Grease" von einigen Studenten aufgeführt mit ziemlich Brillianz- hatte auch erst vor an dem Theaterkurs teilzunehmen, doch nachdem ich das Stöhnen einiger Freunde, die viele viele Stunden ins einproben investieren, war ich dann ganz froh, es nicht gemacht zu haben- trotzdem eine tolle Show.

The musical Grease was performed from some of the students- really good performance. First I thought about joining the theatre group as well but after hearing the moanings about the long rehearsal hours I was glad that I chose not to in the beginning.

 

Am letzten Unitag hatte ich meine Uniband zu Besuch- zumindest die Hälfte von ihnen- viele waren schon wieder in ihrer Heimat. Gemeinsam haben wir Pizza gemacht- meine hat ein bisschen länger gedauert- ist ja auhc garnicht so einfach mit dem Teig kneten :)
On the last das of the uni I had my band over for making some pizza- at least the half of the band. Many where already back to their hometown.

 

Ich durfte mit einem befreundeten Gitarristen (ist auch in meiner Uniband) das lunch concert in dem Cafe auf der UNi eröffnen. Die Idee ist die LEute bei ihrem Essen zu unterhalten- dafür studierten wir ein ca. 20 minütiges Programm mit verschiedensten Jazz, Pop und sogar einem keltischen Song ein. War eine tolle Erfahrung, obwohl viele nun eben beim Essen waren.
Einen Abend vorher hatte ich mit dem Chor ein Konzert in der Student Union (the place to be :) des Campus. Haben dort Gospelsongs wie Joyful Joyful gesungen und ich durfte ein Sole singen. Only Hope- immer wieder ein schöner Song wie ich finde-.

The Uni let me and a befriended guitar player (he is in the uniband as well) to open the lunch concert series in the cafe of the uni. The idea is to entertain peoplöe as they have their lunch. For this purpose we rehearsed a program of about 20 minutes with Jazz, Pop and even a celtic song. It was a great experience, even though people where busy eating.
An evening before I had a performance with the uni choir in the Student Union. There we sang some Gospel songs as Joyful Joyful and they let me sing a solo- Only hope- always a great song.
